About the Artist

In 2010, after careers as a public school teacher, educational consultant, University professor, and president of a Christian humanitarian organization I chose to revisit my childhood dream of being an artist– to push past my fears and to follow my bliss – to immerse myself completely in the visual arts. I have felt like a kid in a candy store as I explore a wide range of media and techniques and I’ve been having the time of my life!

Each experience has opened the door of possibilities for what I can do and say through art. I use the materials and processes that best suit the task – painting animal and human portraits and figures or abstracts in acrylic; using collage to capture a client’s personal history; carving in stone, body casting, bending wire or shaping metal to portray the human form in 3 dimension; or welding steel to create a graceful horse or an artistic piece of furniture. I savour the meditative solitude of art making but relish even more the joyful responses that can come when my art connects to the viewer and satisfies a client.

A serious motor vehicle accident in 2014 left me with an acquired brain injury that affected me physically, cognitively and emotionally and severely impacted my life and my art making. With the support of my loving husband, friends, family and a multitude of therapists I am developing greater stamina and focus.

Out of this difficult leg of my life’s journey a wonderful opportunity has presented itself – to provide “art as therapy” to individuals with similar injuries and trauma or to individuals who just need some guidance to explore their creative selves.
